Hylwa completes fourth project for Yale University Properties

November 8th, 2017

Hylwa is proud to announce the successful completion of their fourth project, in two years, for Yale University. The total gut/renovation of the 100-year-old, three-story, brick building at 101 Lake Place, in New Haven, CT, is now open for new student housing.

After extensive interior demolition, down to the stud walls, and a wide range of structural repairs Hylwa was able to start the construction phase of the project.  The building was furnished with a state-of-the-art fire protection system and a new, interior stair tower for egress.

The exterior of the building was also totally renovated. The exterior brick walls were structurally repaired, repointed and cleaned. All windows, trims, cornices and oriels were removed, and skillfully replaced to match the existing.

The new apartment units are a mix of three bedroom/one bath and 4 bedrooms/two baths units. All come with new kitchens, appliances, fixtures, finishes, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems.

All work was performed smoothly, and without disruption to the daily operations of an active business on the first floor.
